1st Day of 2nd Grade

 

Good Bye, Long Locks!

Mia has been talking about growing her hair out for "Locks of Love" and we thought she had a little ways to go yet. But today when she went in for a "trim" she had just the 10 inches that was needed. Instead of just getting a trim and waiting to cut her hair she decided to do it today! She was pretty excited. As you can see, Holly got a little bit of a trim, too!


 

Gone Fishin'

Although I think "fishing season" lasts all year in the Pacific Northwest, Eric calls this time of year "fishing season". He has been catching his limit of sockeye lately but today produced even better results...a 30+ lb. king salmon! He's been leaving at 5:00 a.m. and limiting out in about 2 hours. He obviously doesn't mind getting up early for that kind of fishing, that's for sure!
 

"More, please!"

So, I'm in the bathroom this morning, helping Mia with her hair and Lucas comes to me saying, "Mom, Joey's makin' a mess." Knowing Joey was eating breakfast I went to the kitchen to see what he was doing. When I asked him what he was doing he simply said "I wanted some more Cheerios." So much for that box! 

A Whole Lot of Hofwegens

We ended our great vacation with a Van Hofwegen family reunion in Portland. We had a great time relaxing and catching up with family.

We had a busy week getting stopping at some of our favorite spots. and catching up with friends and family. We had to stop by the farm to get a close up look at some great big tractors, too. Now we are off on our journey back west. Hard to believe our trip is almost over.


 

Cousins in Tie Dye

Our last day of camping at the Conference Grounds the kids all tie dyed t-shirts.  On Saturday they finally got to see their creations and pose in them. 

We had a great week camping at the Conference Grounds in Grand Haven this week.  Lots of swimming, bike riding and running to the candy store several times a day!  Now we are back to Grandpa and Grandma's house to catch up on some sleep.  Hard to believe we've been gone for over 3 weeks already.

Camping Fun

Today we had a fun day at the American Girl Place in Chicago.  The dolls took a trip to the salon and we had a fun lunch with the girls.

Thursday night the kids had fun riding ponies at Teusinks farm...another huge hit!

A favorite daily activity...riding in the wagon behind Grandpa's tractor.

We made a quick stop in Minnesota to see Great Grandma Kamstra's.

We had fun seeing the sites from Laura Ingalls Wilder.
