Places to go, people to see

6th graders are busy practicing for the 6th Grade Musical. Should be great!

3rd graders "Chalked the Walk" in Lynden on Friday. The whole grade goes and decorates the sidewalks at a local shopping center as part of the fall festival celebrations.

And the 1st grade took field trips last week to the fire station and library. They got to sit in the fire truck, shine it up and learned some important safety tips. At the library they got to get their own library cards and check out some books after a tour of the library. Never a dull moment around here... that's for sure!

Sweet Grandma K

Eric's sweet grandma passed away this weekend. She was 92 years old and had lived a good long life. When I think of Grandma K. I think of the very top left photo.  I think that was one of the first times I had met her when we were both in Lynden visiting.  She was so spunky and loved to have fun.  We all laughed as she strutted her stuff in Eric's bomber jacket.  The bottom left photo is one of the last time we saw her, the summer of 2004.  We were driving from WA to MI that summer and stopped for a visit and it was the first and only time she got to meet Lucas, Tyler and Joey.  We are so grateful for the memories she's left us with and the assurance that we will see her again some day. We love you, Grandma K!

A day with friends

A year ago, these dear friends of ours had a sweet granddaughter born in Thailand very prematurely. While Olive and her parents fought for her life in Thailand many of us here wanted to do something for them, so you may remember the "Auction for Olive" that was organized. Ro and Co "won" Eric's fishing trip that he put up for auction and last Saturday, Olive's first birthday, we spent a day on the Skagit River. The sites were spectacular, the company even better and the fishing was okay, too.

And yes, Colleen did reel in the only catch of the day!

Soccer, Soccer and More Soccer

Check out that sweet keeper! Ahhh, warms my heart! :) The best part of this picture is the string of blue following the ball as it headed toward the goal.

Not sure what kind of words were exchanged here but I'm sure Joey was encouraging his brother as he was about to take the kick, right?

Lots of soccer action on Saturday mornings. Lots of pictures of the boys playing however, I may have to either hand my camera off, snap some photos from some one else or just get someone else to coach some morning so I can take pictures of the girls.

When school starts so does everything else

Eric started coaching 8th grade football last week and the rest of us headed to the real football field :) to play soccer.

All 5 kids are playing LYS soccer so Saturday mornings are busy! They've all got a great sponsor and hopefully Mia and Holly like their coach, too! :) Needless to say, since I'm coaching there might not be as many soccer pictures unless I can rope a few people into getting some for me! I asked Holly to get some on Saturday and I think we ended up with more of the fans (which are great, too!) and not much of the action on the field.

And their off!

We've got 3 days under our belts and so far so good.

These are (most of)the great teachers we're blessed to have this year. Now if I can just keep track of which teacher I told what I'll be good to go!

Eric took the girls up to the Frasier River last week to do some fishing. They took our friend, Captain Randy, along, too. They all caught LOTS of fish!

But another boat on up there that night didn't do as well. (I won't name names of course!)

Adventures in geocaching

Earlier this summer, Eric won this little handheld GPS unit because of this cool video. (he hadn't even realized he entered a contest until they told him he won...even cooler!)
So on Sunday afternoon we decided to give geocaching a try. We weren't going to go far for our first attempt, just right in our own backyard, so to speak, over at the city park.

We searched,

and searched,

rechecked the location,

searched some more,

and some more,

and some more. We finally gave up! Can you believe it! How hard can it be!! We looked for one other one on the trail and couldn't find that one either. LAME!!! Mia and a friend went back the next day and THANKFULLY found the one down the trail so we didn't feel like complete failures, however, the one in the park still eludes us. We'll go back and search again and let you know if we ever find it. However, if you have found it and have any clues for us, we'll take 'em!
