The Olympic spirit is contagious

At the start of the winter games up in Vancouver I didn't really know how much we'd see of the sites and sounds of the Olympics.  Now looking back, that was a crazy thought!  Our two weeks were filled with Olympic excitement as we watched them on t.v., took a day trip into the city to see the sites and last Thursday I capped off my Olympic experience with a visit to the set for a live taping of the Today show.  (if you're on Facebook you've seen most of these already, so if you're sick of it...so sorry!  But it was so much fun and an adventure of a lifetime, it needs repeating!)   It started with a slightly crazy and impulsive thought after seeing some friends pictures on Facebook after they had gone up.  11 of us left Lynden at 1:30 A.M. and headed north to Grouse Mountain.

We enjoyed a (early) morning of hanging around the campfire with everyone  from Today as well as special guest, Jimmy Fallon.

This chick does the updating on Facebook for Today apparently.  Lisa recognized her.  It's the only photo with evidence that I did indeed have a sign wishing my sisters a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  :)

Grabbed some of these cute little cookies at Starbucks up at  Grouse.  They were cute but no one (I put them in the kids lunches) thought they were to tasty.

Proof that I did indeed score a pair of red mittens!  As we passed Zellers on our way up to the taping we had wanted to stop but in was not open of course.  So the next day I had about 2 hours before I had to be at school and wanted to quick run up and see if they had any Olympic gear left.  Thanks, Wendi, for jumping along and being so kind as to give me the last pair (a RETURN no less!)

I had to be back to school because the kindergarten class was taking part in the Kindergarten Olympics.  I missed the opening torch relay but made it in time for 2 men-bobsleigh, skeleton, hockey, the biathalon, a little curling, and the mogels.  Team Canada left the stadium so proud of their accomplishments and thanking all their fans and supporters.  Then they headed back to the classroom for the medal ceremony. Too much fun!

Life seems a little dull after all that excitement but I'm sure it won't take long for us to figure out what our next adventure will be! :)

This is so weird, I kid you not, I never have the T.V. on in the morning, but that day I happened to let the kids watch PBS and when they turned on the T.V. the Today show was on. I happened to hear them say they were at Grouse Mountain, and the thought went through my mind that..."I think Becky and Eric were just there for their anniversary..."{I don't know if I am right or not, but for some reason that rung a bell!} Then the kids turned the station, but I did see them all standing around the fire pit...Then later that day you posted pictures that you were there! How weird is that?!
Just thought I'd share.
