...we headed off to the ER with Joey last night after he and his brothers were wrestling and his face found the corner of the wall. Speaking from personal experience, I know head wounds bleed...A LOT...but according to my husband I didn't handle this stressful situation very well! :) We were supposed to be leaving for dinner with Eric's family to celebrate his mom's birthday and Aunt Joan was going to babysit, so Aunt Joan to the rescue, I called her to come a little earlier and we headed out with Joey. When he was being checked in, the nurse asked him to point to what his pain level was by pointing to the face he most felt like. He looked at her and said "I'm happy!" Thanks, Joey, now we'll have to wait even longer! :) So, 5 stitches and 2 hours later we finally left and even caught the tail end of dinner! So, I'm taking any suggestions on how to get blood out of the carpet. I think we've salvaged our clothes but the carpet needs some work!Sunday, March 25, 2007

Joey and Lucas

As I was posting these pictures I thought I had a picture of each of the boys (and I don't have much of the girls, unfortunately), but after looking a little more closely, it is just Joey and Lucas. The bottom photo is Lucas playing cards and the only way to know is his blue card holder (thank goodness the game also came with a green and red one, the fourth person has no choice and has to be yellow) We're anxious for spring...the boys are wanting to be outside so bad they are riding their bikes in the rain right now. Life in WA...right?

When it rains, it pours!
We've had a lot of rain lately....a lot! Several of the areas rivers are supposed to flood this week. My basement also flooded this past week! :) However, we are high enough that it was not the rain or the rivers that caused this, but human error. I hesitate to show you this lovely room of ours, it is a laundry/storage room filled with lots of junk waiting to be gone through. This entire room was pretty much covered with an inch of water. I had started to fill a sink to soak some things and got called upstairs by my dear children, before you know it we were baking muffins and I was waiting for my washing machine to stop running so I could switch the load. About an hour later I thought I'd check on it. Needless to say, I called Eric home to help me with my major problem. After lots of sucking up water with a shop vac and laughing at me we got a long ways. This room needed desperately to be cleaned but I was not planning on doing it last week. I'm normally just a "picture blogger", filling you in on our life with pictures of us but thought I'd share this story in case you were needing a little chuckle today at my expense

This picture is of Joey at naptime. He's supposed to be sleeping (like Tyler in the background) but instead he and Lucas were busy filling his bed with every thing they could get their hands on.

Favorite Places

So, Mia and Holly have found a new "fort". It's the front closet and they have it all rigged with lighting and entertainment. We are not sure why the smallest space in the house has become their favorite but they are having fun and not fighting so why argue, right? As for the boys, well, hanging onto my leg seems to be a favorite spot for some reason.Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Valentine's Surprise!

So Eric can't just plan something the "normal" way, he usually goes all out. This weekend was no acception. I thought the weekend was going to be a normal weekend at home until Wednesday night Mia read a cute poem telling me basically not to worry about them, it's all taken care of and that Eric and I were going away for the weekend. So all I had to do was pack and be ready to go at 1:00 Friday. This is basically what our friends told their wives, too. We were fairly clueless accept for a few hints "accidentally dropped" by a few people but nothing that gave away what we were doing. We drove down to Bellingham Bay and Eric starts backing down the boat ramp (without a boat!) and says to get out. There was a boat at the launch but we didn't recognize it. It turned out to be a friend of Eric who offered to bring us to our destination when they found out what we were doing (the only other way there was by ferry). They ended up bringing us to Rosario Resort out on Orcas Island. It was a so much fun, just talking and laughing and doing nothing! Saturday we woke up and it was beautiful and our "private water taxi" came and brought us to Friday Harbor for lunch and then back to Orcas. What a awesome weekend out on the islands!!Saturday, February 03, 2007
Birthday Fun
For Eric's birthday we decided to go bowling with the kids. When we got there the guy said leagues were starting in 45 minutes so we had to be done by then. I said no problem (and thought why didn't anyone tell me that when I called?!), that should be plenty of time. Was I wrong. Each frame took a loooooong time, especially for the ball to get down the lane and there was no way the kids wanted to leave so soon. Oh well, we'll just have to go back.

"This is so Exciting!"

After having her first tooth ready to fall out at any moment for over a week now, it's official...it's out!!!! Holly was a little worried at first but after all was said and done she thought it was pretty great. Mia showed her the ropes on how to write a nice note to the tooth fairy so you can be sure she leaves some money and the tooth.

Finally thawing out

So, we've barely gotten above freezing for the last week (I really do love the snow but I have to say I've become a winter wimp!). It's finally starting to rain and warm up a little. Just 2 days off from school during this last batch of snow. :P The boys keep asking when they can get out their moster trucks....soon, I hope, very soon!

Personality
So, these new little rides have been quite a hit (of course) and we have had to get out on them in between rain storms. The first day was a lot of bumper cars until they got it figured out and the ground rules were set. They have also showed everyones true colors in a big way!
Lucas has gotten the hang of it right away and just goes! He has a little look on his face like he has it all under control. He is getting sick of the driveway and has looked in new directions to head.
Tyler is a little more cautious but has gotten the hang of it and it usually content to just circle around the driveway.
Joey would rather just yell for my help when he gets stuck. He refuses to turn the wheel (the steering is a little tough), he just leaves it in one possition and stops when he's in a predicament.
Holly is a typical backseat driver. She is doing a good job letting her brothers do the driving but she is gripping the dashboard half the time and talking on the cell phone the other half. I'm a little scared to think 13 years down the road and the cars are a little bigger!

Happy Birthday, Round #2
We finally got around to celebrating the boys birthday with the VH gang.
Lots of fun and LOTS of noise!

Thanks for the great cake, Cheryl. It was delicious (and cute..it even came with a manure spreader)!

he had a HUGE surprise for the boys at home!
He told me when the boys were born that he wasn't going to buy them any gifts for birthday or Christmas and when they turned 3 he was going to get them each a Hummer. I honestly can say I didn't believe it was going to happen....but it has, and they were a HUGE hit! Thanks, Uncle Dave...I think...let the fun begin!

Happy Valentine's Day! All the valentine's are made and the parties almost done. We stopped by Aunt Joan this morning to wish her a happy birthday. Everyone left happy since nothing says "I love you" like Aunt Joan's fruit snacks!
